A line worth keeping
Overheard in SUNNYVAiLE
“A draft is an outfit. A claim is an alibi. Dress accordingly.”
From Episode 3 · The Burn Book Problem
Read the episode →The sentence is wearing confidence.
Imagine asking AI to tidy a message about your restaurant booking. It writes: “Looking forward to Saturday. We’re booked for seven.” You never supplied the time.
Before you send it, what needs checking?
Let us inspect the alibi
“We’re booked for seven.” Check the time against the restaurant’s confirmation. AI has produced wording; that alone does not establish what you booked. Keep the phrasing if you like it, but correct or remove the unsupported detail.
A draft can contain claims. That is where the checking comes in.
Same question, different message: AI writes “Your parcel has shipped.” What would you need to see before passing that on? The actual dispatch confirmation or tracking record—not another confident sentence.
